Cosmic Bot Forge - Oscar enjoyed building a solar rover and testing it in the sun, quick to build, but a nightmare to debug, he had fun trying to predict what the gears would do.

EMF Camp 2026

greetings EMF Camp 2026 - null sector opening night

downtime

teletype text adventure

whacky racers

opening ceremony

music from the stars

exhausted - I don't think Ethan knew what to expect; up at 5, four hours on a train, then a coach, only to arrive in field baking in the sun.

exhausted

rainbow - the faintest of rainbows can be seen in the spray of the sprinklers, we loved watching the rainbow change as the sprinklers rotated

fresh fruit - blackberries this year are sweeter than usual

saturday school - I fell asleep in the shade waiting for Oscar to finish his class

in the dark - we've been doing everything we can to keep the house cool

afternoon tube - I'm so glad that the brief journey I had to do on the Tube this week was above ground and not during rush hour

warm evenings - the sustained run of warm stagnant evenings had meant sleep has suffered

Barbican Centre - we came in to town for the LSO Family Concert

Scientist at Work - we stood for an hour to watch this scientist perform experiments at the local Polish community fair. Close up, engaging, complete with flames, liquid nitrogen being thrown in the air, and the occasional explosion

deserted - midday sun too hot for anyone to be out

Shade - the long hot days made any shaded area a place of sanctuary

Long Grass - much of the grass has been left uncut. The boys have been having fun using these ears of wall barley as darts.

delight - Ethan went on an acorn hunt

waiting - We used to cross the railway daily, Oscar hoping the barriers would be shut, me hoping they wouldn't.

timber - the smell of a working timber yard is incredible

slow starts - I stood and watched as this man caught his first fish of the season. Moments later there was a second, and third.

success | so close

family haircut - Who knew that a haircut was a great excuse for a day out?

on my way - reflections are always fun

look up - cameras never quite capture colour the way I experience it. This photo stood out because of the detail visible in the leaves.

growth spurt - sun and rain has triggered a growth spurt in anything green

planted to look wild

Throwback Thursday

underpass - I always find these underpasses create incredible light

in the shade - a welcome break from the sun

the beautiful side of pollen - as a hay-fever sufferer this is not something I say often

in motion - cycling with one eye to the viewfinder was not the most sensible decision

break in play - it was way too hot to be on court all day

early morning - I love being up before everyone else

campfire - after dinner

keeping cool - we spent more time in this stream than anywhere else, muddy, occasionally really deep, but oh so cool

setting up camp - I love the way the smoke seemed to linger over the campsite briefly

Alpine House, Kew

stretch - sometimes you know they are going to fall, but then they surprise you

evening on the water - I miss rowing, wondering if I should join a club

departure lounge - in the chaos of an airport terminal there are always places to find quiet

green - no mow may means the grass is starting to get long

in town - Farringdon station

book swap - this little phone box has a surprisingly high turnover of books

County Hall, London

spring delight - flowers are out everywhere at the moment, tree pollen has subsided and I can finally enjoy Spring

ladybird spotting - it amazes me how they are able to spot a ladybird whilst cycling along

rising tide - from one section of the river to another

city skyline - I can't help looking back across the city, trying to spot buildings I've worked in

view from the top - just look at how green London is at the moment

end of the line - being able to avoid rush hour is a real luxury

sunday market

escape for the afternoon

bike trip - by Sunday Ehtan was really pushing the distance on the bike, he's loving it

on the trails - with the trip to nursery nailed, Ethan was keen to try more challenging terrain

and the rains came - 'light rain' it said

monopoly deal - we played a couple of games each morning before I started work and it was interesting to see Oscar try to determine my strategy and the counter it with differing strategies of his own

first day on the balance bike - having shown no interest before our trip to China, Ethan has come back determined to learn to ride

overboard - the boat sits empty after being righted following a capsize

walk in the park - jet lag means we were up early and needed to get out of the house
