Summer

laps of the park

outdoor office

dry weather continues

liquid chalk - great fun until you realise that it goes everywhere when you shake the pens

downtime

exhausted - I don't think Ethan knew what to expect; up at 5, four hours on a train, then a coach, only to arrive in field baking in the sun.

exhausted

rainbow - the faintest of rainbows can be seen in the spray of the sprinklers, we loved watching the rainbow change as the sprinklers rotated

takeaway dinner - busy day for all of us and so we ended up with a rare takeaway dinner in the garden

fresh fruit - blackberries this year are sweeter than usual

saturday school - I fell asleep in the shade waiting for Oscar to finish his class

keeping cool - with a hosepipe ban in force, Ethan has been watering the plants with a hand spray

evenings in the garden - it has been so nice to have meals outside recently

in the dark - we've been doing everything we can to keep the house cool

homework time - last weekend of homework before the school holidays begin

heatwave - it's too hot to sit outside for much of the day. It doesn't feel right to be spending much of the day in the dark with the blinds closed.

Barbican Centre - we came in to town for the LSO Family Concert

deserted - midday sun too hot for anyone to be out

reflection - we've had the shutters closed most days this week, feels odd to sit in the dark

Shade - the long hot days made any shaded area a place of sanctuary

Long Grass - much of the grass has been left uncut. The boys have been having fun using these ears of wall barley as darts.

look up - cameras never quite capture colour the way I experience it. This photo stood out because of the detail visible in the leaves.

break in play - it was way too hot to be on court all day

into the garden - it's so nice to be spending more time outdoors

birthday ice-cream
