  1. A young child stands with their back to the camera, looking at a row of arcade machines. The turquoise and pink lighing from the machines reflects in the pollished floor.
The shopping mall was empty. On a Saturday I’d expect crowds of people sheltering from the cold outside. But there was no one here. The neon lights in this empty arcade had my son dancing around the floor until he realised we were watching him.
  2. A black and white photo of a street in Tianjin (天津), China. On the left of the image a car sits parked, the passenger side door open and the bonnet (hood) propped up. On the right, a mechanic sits by a pile of three tyres on the steps leading to his workshop. His focus is on the phone in his hands. In the distance, a man sits on the steps of the next shop. He is also looking at his phone.
